Change is Necessary

I preached a message on change a week ago and intended to write a post as well since I had so much information running through my mind, obviously that did not happen, but message is still ringing loud and clear in my head. Change is something I have talked about many times. Along with that are excuses or resistance. The core problem is we as a people get comfortable and we do not like to change, we get pretty set in our ways, but ultimately change is necessary.

Nobody wakes up in the morning and decides they are going to get fit but continues doing the same things they have always done, expecting to get fit.

You do not decide you are going to lose weight and then keep eating the same way you always have.

If you want to get out of debt, you do not continue spending the same way you always have.

These are just 3 quick examples where change is necessary. If I am going to stay consistent posting to instagram for my business or writing this blog I’m going to need to put some changes into my life that make this a priority.

We all need change in our lives, but it does not always make us comfortable. In the message God gave me the example of Moses. If you have ever read Exodus you know that Moses grew up in Pharaoh’s house and when he was older killed an Egyptian guard and fled Egypt. When he ran away he eventually met up with a man named Jethro, helps to tend to his flock and ends up marrying Ziporah, Jethro’s daughter. He lived there many years, had 2 kids of his own before one day on a walk he crossed paths with a burning bush, where God called him to do his work.

Now if you know the full story you know that Moses resisted, tried to tell God he was not the right person for this. Of course, Moses was comfortable, he was enjoying his life and he knew that going back to Egypt was going to bring back all the awful memories he had there and force him out of his comfort zone. Ultimately, God knew better than Moses did which led Moses to follow through and carry out God’s will.

The point of this is simple. God had a plan for Moses, but Moses was comfortable and needed a change to make Moses who God intended him to be. Moses had to change!

We all need to change throughout our lives. We get into the motions, stuck in the ruts and fail to progress to become all that God intended us to be.

Now maybe you don’t believe in God, but I can tell you that there is still something better for you. The challenge is that you are going to have to change. You are probably going to have to kick some bad habits, change some things you do, do more of something else, but all with the plan that you are going to change for the better. Become who you want to be or who God has planned for you to be.

Where do you need to change?

What ruts have you got stuck in?

Here are some steps to help you make those changes.

  1. Set a vision for what you want to do (make it big). Write it down and put it close by.

  2. Give yourself 1 easy step towards that vision, Write it down

  3. Wake up in the morning and put that step into practice: I'd recommend writing on an index card, tape it to your bathroom mirror, bedside. Somewhere where you see it.

  4. Continue with that step for 1-2 weeks, then go back to step 1, revisit see the progress, not continue through the steps again

Set up your plan for who you want to be! Say it, see it and make it happen! You got this!
