As a Christian God teaches us to lay our worries upon him. That is the purpose of prayer and time with him, to let your needs and wants known unto God and take those burdens off of you. Christ shares that he will carry your burden, after all he went to the cross for your sins and carried the greatest burden he could for you. Now how does that all come back around.
The pandemic for the most part is beyond our control. We can do our part to reduce the spread, but let’s face it our businesses have been impacted, our jobs may have been, and our home lives disturbed. But many of those things are beyond our control. As the old saying goes, make lemonade out of lemons. Take the hand you have been given and work with it, put practices in place that allow you to control what you can and let the other stuff go. They are probably a given at this point and all you can do is work with what you have.
As you take this into your business realm, budgets are cut, projects are running late. Take those items work with them and see what you can do. No sense getting frustrated with the what has happened or what has happened in the past. Go forward and keep moving, but take a deep breath before.
I was listening to Jocko Wilink a couple of times and he was talking about not reacting or making decisions when you are angry or frustrated. This comes from above. The burdens start piling on, you get frustrated and start making decisions and before you know it you are deeper than you were before. Never make a decisions or react when in this type of mood. It will not bode well and will not come out right. You need to take a moment to look at the circumstances, the decisions and adjust. When you do that you will take the right steps forward and I’m sure you will get things back on the right path.
As you see yourself getting frustrated, burnt out, brash in your reaction, whatever. That is the time to step back, breathe and just take a moment to yourself. This is what makes or breaks you. What can you control in the situation? As you reflecting on the circumstances around you what can you change? If nothing, then go with the flow and control what you can. But chances are there is something you can change.
Let me bring it back for the moment to the current time of year and your finances. Are you overwhelmed with the new gift ideas that are out there, the kids wants for the latest things and your current financial situation. You have control here. You can say no. You can say no more. This is where you take the necessary steps to define you and change the path for the future. Make the change and control what you can.
Recommendations:
Jocko Willink - Research him and pick just about anyone of his books. He is one of my favorites. His principles are simple and easy to apply. I even HIGHLY recommend his kid’s books. My sons have read through them and enjoyed them immensely. What they didn’t know, was that through the story it taught them some great lessons.
