Sometimes You Just Have to be Flexible

It is 8 PM now as I sit down to write this. My plans for writing in the afternoon as I have been doing for the past several weeks were thwarted by a 15-year-old kid that asked me to go have a catch with him, followed by playing Fortnite together. I know video games, are not something I do much of, but playing the game together with my sons makes for a good time.

As I look back on the day, it was time well spent talking and just enjoying the moment between the two of us. With 3 boys, I remember each of these special times I've had with all of them. I will turn down any amount of work or home chores to enjoy these times. It is a time to relish as I know they will not be forever.

As the days go by, sometimes you just have to know when to be flexible and adjust for the moments that matter to you. This includes every aspect of our lives. Do not continue in a job that you hate, just because it is a job. Do not overspend on stuff just for a moment, but figure out where you can be flexible in other areas to make room for a moment (that does not include spending thousands on a Taylor Swift concert).

Enjoy the moments, be flexible, and do what matters most to you!
