What Are Your Money Goals?

Money is not a fun topic for some. It causes people to shut down either for fear because things seem unachievable, embarrassment because they feel like they are not where someone else is, or discomfort. After all, it is just like religion or politics. I love to talk about it, happy to share our plans for 2025, what we are saving towards, and what we are looking to the future for. We all have things we want to accomplish and it is important to not only have a goal but a plan for how to do it.
What are some options you have?
Buy a house/Upgrade a house
Upgrade a car
Take a specific vacation
Increase your savings
Plan a big event, like a wedding/anniversary...
Or maybe you don't have a goal or haven't thought about it. Well now is the time to figure one out, it may be 2-3 years, but now is the time to start and set a target for this year. Do not let a year go by without figuring out where your money went. That is what happens to over 50% of Americans because more than 60% of Americans are just living paycheck to paycheck waiting for the next check to come in to make sure they can survive.
No matter what your money goal is for this year, the next step is to layout a plan to achieve that. As Benjamin Franklin once said, "failing to plan, is planning to fail." Set up some goals and targets throughout the year and keep them visible.
Let's look at a quick example:
If housing is on your mind it is important to get to some real numbers. What are you looking for? What can you afford? How much do you need to save? If you have one of these bigger targets in mind, it is some time to put some pen to paper. Sure housing prices have risen greatly over the past 5 years, but it is no different than before. That is why most want to buy them. They are appreciating assets. In simple terms, unlike a car, they go up in value the longer you live in them. So based on where you want to live and what you would like to buy, what are those homes going for? Then how much are you going to need to save to get into one of them? Then finally, how much can you save each month to save up enough to get your payments where you need them to be to fit your budget? It is that simple.
Ok, it is that simple for me :)
Well that is where I can come in to help you get on a path to take control, achieve your goals and get to that next milestone for your life. Don't let money control you, control your money!
